Dinner Party Planning

IMG_1892 One of my guiltiest pleasures is a well put together cheese plate. As somebody who loves to entertain, I always make sure there is plenty of food for my guests to enjoy with their cocktail before dinner!

A satisfying cheese plate offers at least two types of cheeses, an assortment of nuts, charcuterie, and of course some crackers. Lately, I’ve fallen in love with this fig spread and leave it out for my guests as a must have!

Now that summer is in full force, let the barbecues and dinner parties commence! I’ve written down a few of my favorite entertaining tips and tricks.

1. Plan in advance: One thing I’ve learned throughout the years is to never wait the day before to start planning! I always make sure I have several days (sometimes even a week) of preparation before hosting friends and family. This extra time is extremely helpful when planning what to cook, finding new recipes and of course visiting the grocery store.

2. Lots of options: Before hosting friends and family I always check to make sure there are no food allergies to what we plan on serving. Several of friends are either gluten free, dairy free or even kosher so having plenty of options to pick from is always key!

3. Make extras: One of my biggest fears is running out of food while guests are over. I tend to keep the fridge stocked when I’m expecting friends over, but I’ve also learned that making extras (especially for leftovers) can also be helpful throughout the week! Whether it’s bringing leftovers for lunch or preparing leftovers for a quick dinner, it’s always a win-win!
