Cocktail Season

Hello friends and happy Friday! With summer finally rolling around, my desire to entertain is in full force.  One of my favorite things to do while entertaining is finding new cocktail recipes that are suited to not only be refreshing but also delight my guests. The key to a great cocktail is not only a mix of good spirits, but these fun pineapple glasses as well!

One of our favorite places to visit in the city is Fraunces Tavern, one of the oldest buildings in Manhattan, and where General George Washington bid farewell to his officers. The interior is quaint and cozy, and nestled close to the hustle and bustle of Wall Street. Every time we go, my fiancé orders their signature drink, the Dawn of the Union. While I am not personally a fan of bourbon, the drink is sweet and refreshing. While attempting to improve his bartending skills, my fiancé enjoys making the Dawn of the Union for our guests.

The Dawn of the Union consists of the following:

2 oz of aged Bourbon Whiskey

1/2 oz Dutch Gin

Juice of 2 fresh lemons

1/2 oz heavy-bodied rum syrup

2 dashes of peach bitters

Topped with a sprinkle of cinnamon

The cocktail is served chilled and is always a hit. Cheers to a great cocktail season!
